Is it good to change passwords?
“Change your passwords regularly” is a common piece of password advice, but it isn’t necessarily good advice.
This is why you shouldn’t bother changing most of your passwords — it encourages you to use weaker passwords and wastes your time.
Plus if you don’t write down your new password when you change it, the next time you try to log in… you won’t be able to access your account and you’ll wind up changing your password again which will cause unnecessary stress.
Does changing passwords increase security?
Frequent password changes do little to improve security and very possibly make security worse by encouraging the use of passwords that are more susceptible to cracking.
What makes password strong?
A strong password must be at least 8 characters long. It should contain characters from the four primary categories, including: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
The Bottom Line
Don’t change your passwords; set up two-factor authentication for peace of mind.
