COVID-19 Tracker in Your Phone?

FYI: Did you know that a ” Covid-19 ” sensor has been inserted secretly into every phone. Apparently when our iPhones and Androids updated their operating systems Apple and Google were busy adding a COVID -19 tracker to our cell phones.

To Turn it On or OFF on an Android phone: Go under Settings, then Google|COVID-19 exposure notifications, and you can toggle it on or off from there. From the same place, you can also delete any random IDs that have been stored by clicking on Delete random IDs|Delete.

If you are using an iPhone, go under Settings > Privacy > Health. It’s not functional until YOU turn it On. The API can notify you if you’ve been near someone that has reported having COVID-19. Don’t turn it on because you will be traced everywhere you go but once you update your iPhone to iOS 13.7, it will automatically be turned on. Just remember, when the 13.7 update is finished go back to Settings > Privacy > Health and turn it off!

Remember, in both cases, Apple & Google, you won’t be notified if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19.

Wow!

So… after writing this post earlier today, I decided to use myself as a guinea pig and update my iPhone to iOS 13.7. And sure enough, the Exposure Notifications tab appeared in my Settings.

And this is what it says: “Turn On Exposure Notifications” Exposure Notifications are off. If you turn them on, your Public Health Authority can notify you of possible exposure to COVID-19. Your iPhone is not collecting or sharing exposure notification data with anyone. If you turn on Exposure Notifications, information related to your exposures can only be shared with your permission.

How Exposure Notifications Work: Your iPhone uses Bluetooth to keep a log throughout the day. Your iPhone looks for iOS and Android phones that have Exposure Notifications turned on and keeps a rolling 14-day log of their shared identifiers. People can report that they have COVID-19 if someone gets a positive diagnosis, they can report it and anonymously notify those you have been near them. If you’ve been exposed, your public health authority can notify you. Your iPhone will check your log for exposure to anyone who has reported a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. If exposure exceeds your public health authority’s guidelines, you will be notified. They are designed to protect your privacy and the privacy of those around you.

Hmmm…. Needless to say, I will keep my Exposure Notifications OFF!
