How to Send Group Email on your iPhone or iPad

I just just recently set this up for a client and it really works!

Set Up A Group in the Contacts App

You can use a workaround in the Contacts app to create a single contact with multiple email addresses. Next time you need to send an email to your entire book club, from your iPad or iPhone, you’ll only need to select one contact.

  1. To set it up, open the Contacts app and tap on the “+” button.
  2. Next, give the contact a distinct group name that you’ll remember.
  3. Swipe down until you find the “Notes” section.
  4. Type in multiple email addresses, separated by commas. Notes bonnie@hammerized.com, hammerbonnie@gmail.com, hammerized34232@gmail.com
  5. Once you’re done, tap and hold on the Notes section, and when it appears Tap Select All. If Select All doesn’t appear you can press and hold on the blue handles and drag them over your email addresses.
  6. Then tap on the “Copy” button.
  7. Now go up to the “Email” field and double-tap on the empty text field.
  8. Tap on the “Paste” option when it appears.
  9. The multiple email addresses that you copied from the Notes section will be pasted in. If you try to add more than one email address in the same field manually, it won’t work.
  10. Tap on the “Done” button at the top to save the contact.

Send Messages to a Group in the Mail App

Now, let’s send an email to your new Group contact.

While you’re viewing the contact in the Contacts app, you can tap on the “Mail” button to quickly start a mail conversation with all the email addresses in the group contact.

If you aren’t already in the Contacts app, you should start by opening the Mail app.

Next, from the bottom toolbar, tap on the “New” button.

Select the “To” field at the top and start searching for your Group contact.

Once you find it, tap on it to select it as the recipient. You can add more email addresses if you want.

Next, tap type your subject and your message.

Tap on the “Send” button when you are finished.
